Just like the Tone and Yoshino River in Japan, there are a few places where you can go for river rafting in Malaysia. One of the more famous locations is Gopeng, Perak. What’s more interesting about this place is that you can enjoy the extreme sports at night too!
A friend of mine, nickname Riok, runs a guesthouse and café called the Gopeng Guesthouse & Café in the town of Gopeng. It is located right in front of the new Gopeng Bus Terminal. His Guesthouse is totally different from the ones that i’ve seen before in the whole of Malaysia! To give you some worded description, the rooms are all designed exactly like the old Malay traditional houses. But it gets more interesting. The wall of the rooms are made up of wood that was taken down from 4 traditional houses, one of the houses dating back as far as the 1930s. All the 4 houses have a story, one being most interesting is that the family who owned the 1930 house had no more family members, so the house was auctioned off.

Riok also owns a Outdoor Adventure enterprise named Radak Adventure. To keep it short, he has more than 10 years of experience operating the river rafting and other outdoor activities in Gopeng. Now, he runs a camping site beside the river, offers various outdoor activities, and volunteering programs.
